Exciting Times!

TWO very exciting things happened to us today...

Madeline has been showing signs of wanting to potty train for a couple of months now - recognizing when she has a poop or pee and telling us, pretending to wipe with tissues or wipes, and verbally asking if she can go pee. She likes to sit on the toilet (with our help of course because it is so big) and act like she is going potty. Until today. Today - this very evening, Paul took her in the bathroom, sat her on the toilet, and she made herself go pee pee in the potty!!!! We cheered and hoorayed and clapped and she was SO excited. It was so much fun it was ridiculous. My little girl is such a big girl!!

Also today Paul came home with our new (used) car. It's a very nice 2004 Honda Accord that is in excellent condition that we purchased from a co-worker of Pauls.
It will make a great "camp car" and allow us to get around without having to call a taxi or ride a bus or ask our nice neighbors if we can borrow thier car or get a ride somewhere. The feeling of knowing that car is in my driveway is a feeling of wonderment!! And that little feeling of confinement I have been having just got a little bit smaller.

Yeah for cars and potty training! :) Seriously- it's amazing how excited a mom can get over bodily functions when it means NO MORE DIAPERS! :) Although, it kinda is bitter sweet wouldn't you agree? I mean, it's just another sign of growing indepedence and that breaks my heart just a smidgin, both times we have done this so far. I wonder if hannah is ready? She is showing some signs but mostly signs that make me want to pull my hair out, like taking off her diaper because there is urine in it and she apparently doesn't like that. The problem is she loves to wear dresses lately and so sometimes she will take her diaper off and I don't know it til she comes and tells me. Today for example she stood on a storage bin in our office and took a dump and then looked down and said, "poop". I had no idea (thanks to her dress) that she had no diaper on....she is a sneaky little one. I guess it's time to pull out the potty and at least start a potty routine-even if she doesn't get it down right away- we'll hopefully be starting some good habits. ANYWAY.....

CONGRATS Madeline and Edith on the beginning of another milestone!! keep us all posted on her wild success! :)
