Both of my girls are acrobatic sleepers. They cannot be comfortable if they are not horizontal to the natural design of the bed. Also, it really helps them if they have a back they can kick their feet into.
But... there are those moments - lovely, peaceful, sweet moments.

Oh man, that is precious! Nothing better than sleepping little ones and snuggling sleeping little ones, even better. Love it! and your beautiful little girls!
