Updates & Excerpts From A Dog & Cat's Diary

Things are going really great so far. Madeline will be 1 month old in a couple of days - I KNOW what in the world?!! A month already... sheesh!

Madeline has grown a lot. She seems longer to me and Paul and she is definitely heavier. She's an eater, and she loves attention. She likes to be held and talked to. She has started cooing and trying to talk back and she regularly smiles. She definitely knows how to get attention and we are starting to read her cries easier. They are definitely different.

Several days ago she started getting a rash on her cheeks (face) and chin. Sometimes you can barely tell it's there and other times it flames up and gets really red and bumpy. I have stopped using lotion and soaps on her face. I'm not sure what it is really. Everyone keeps telling me it's "normal". I don't really care that it's normal, I want to know what it is so I can fix it!! She is fine otherwise though... no fever or uncontrollable crying.

Here are some recent pictures of the most beautiful baby in existence:

This is from a few days ago before we went on a walk. Madeline loves her bunny slippers that her Aunt Amb got her.

Madeline also loves her daddy

She HATES headbands. She thinks they make her look like a dweeb.

She does love hats though.

More that headbands and hats though, she just loves hangin' in her diaper.
(this picture was taken by mistake with a camera setting that makes fuzzy, dark pictures - this upset me very much cause it is such a cute picture... grrr)

And now, for a change, something that has nothing to do with our baby...
This is pretty old, and you may have seen it before, but I think it's funny and thought I'd share...

Excerpts from a Cat's Diary
Day 983 of my captivity.

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape.

In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomitted on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. Bastards!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow --but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.

The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now . . .

Edith Ann! She is a super cutie.. I love the one of her sleeping in her diaper that smile is so precious. That is a bummer that it's dark and fuzzy because it is sure cute! Can't believe she will be a month old. I still can't believe my twins are 3 months old already, where does the time go!?

So you left me a comment on my blog that said you wanted a tutu to? Are you serious or are you just dramatizing? lol :) Do you remember that day behind the elementary? Sometimes I so wish I could go back to our childhood. Our perfect little Mayberry Bubble! But seriously. I will make Madeline a tutu if you want me to. They are a way fun prop to use in pics. A chubby naked baby in nothing but a tutu! Madeline seems like she may not be up to all the frou frou though. I have a friend that hand beads jewelry, who I had make a personalized binky clip, for Ms. Madeline, when your fam threw you a shower. I was going to send it with a baby quilt, but I haven't made the quilt yet. But since your nursing you probably won't need it!! Or would you? It's a binky clip that says Madeline on it?

Kathy, I know, I was laughing really hard too when I first saw it.
Amber, I know, it really sort of drives me crazy how fast time is going and how big she is getting! You really do have to enjoy every single minute.
Stace, ahh yes, the good ol' days... haha
I think Madeline would LOVE a tutu - so would I. Can you just imagine me dancing around the house with her? haha Actually, I love beaded stuff, but Madeline hates binkies. She doesn't suck her thumb either - Aren't I lucky?

Edith- honestly, I can't get over how beautiful she is! So cute!Regarding your hilarious "Cat captivity" post I imagine that your cat lives quite the "good life" and doesn't have nearly so many complaints as the ungrateful cat in this post....sHEeSh ;)funny stuff! Also-I wanted to let you know that Hannah had what sounds like the SAME rash on her little face. My pediatrician said to use a dandruff shampoo, carefully on her face. I used Head and Shoulders although I read that Selsun Blue works pretty good too. If it is still a problem for Madeline at this point- you could give it a try. It seemed to work really well after a week or two on Hannah's face. By the way- in case you were wondering I consider the invitation to "leave your comment" more of a solicitation for me to submit nove length ramblings........

Kam,
I love that you leave long comments regulary. I wish all the other people who glanced at the blog regularly would leave a "hello" also (hint hint)!
Thanks for the info. about the selsun blue/H&S... She STILL has the rash. In fact it seems to have spread to her temples and a little into her neck. I wish I knew exactly what to do.
