Pop Goes My Head

So last night Paul and I were sitting down to a delicious dinner of baked potatoes, steak, and salad. We had just began when I took a first bite of my potato. It was a bit cold because it took longer for the steak to cook. Previous to taking this bite, I had smelled the bacon ranch dressing I put on my salad to make sure it was still good. Also while cooking the steak, I had a couple nibbles of it so it could have been any of the three that was the cause of what shortly followed.

My mouth began to water and I bolted to the nearest bathroom. I drooled profusely into the toilet and proceeded to puke. This is the first time I have actually puked during my pregnancy. I have been nauseated several times, but this was the first puke. I puked so hard that I felt as if someone was strangling me and forcing my throat up into my mouth. My eyes felt as if they were about to explode each time I heaved. When it was over, I even spit some blood out. Not a lot, just small traces. Something must have popped in the midst of all the pressure.

This morning I woke up with broken blood vessels in my eyes and tons of tiny little blood dots around my eyes and along the bottom of my neck under my jaw. THAT is how much pressure I had. It was the most awful throw up I have ever experienced in my life. Needless to say, I did not eat my dinner. I feasted on some unsalted bland saltine crackers and water the rest of the night. I pray to God this never happens again.

No more potatoes, sour cream, ranch, or steak. Check!

Oh, Edith, that's terrible! And believe me, I KNOW that feeling!!! Throwing up is no fun. And as for Saltines, I've eaten so many that I cannot even bring myself to buy them anymore. Just the smell of them makes me want to vomit.

Take comfort knowing that you'll forget all about how sick you were once that sweet baby is in your arms.

You poor, poor thing!!! I am so sorry to hear that. It comes with the territory...but it still doesn't make it any fun. And, what is up with breaking blood vessels? Edith...that is some VIOLENT puking!! Take it easy.
